Winter Jasmine 「黄梅」

A beautiful spring
A spring that has yet to come
That has yet to bloom
Like a shy, young maiden’s heart
That has yet to fall in love

Notes: In hanakotoba (花言葉), the Japanese language of flowers, the winter jasmine (黄梅) represents “modest beauty” (控えめな美), “expectation” (期待), and “blessing” (恩恵). [Japanese source]

Notes 2: Interestingly, the winter jasmine can also be called “the flower that welcomes spring” (迎春花) and “the golden plum blossom” (金梅).
